Got Signs?

I'm pretty sure that most of you - with the exception of all the
snow crazy Sibes out there, aka: Khyra, the OP Pack, and the Thundering Herd
are ready for spring. I know I'm more than ready
so I spent the other day lookin' for some signs of it around the house.

You have to look closely 'cuz the buds on our lilac tree are
just barely stickin' their little heads out from under their winter covers.

The daffodils still have some growin' to do
before they show their sunny yellow faces.

A former muddy paw print ~ now frozen, tells me that
warmer temperatures have been tauntin' us.

All in all, the colors of spring have not seen fit to adorn
our little corner of the world yet. So we took a little ride
to see if we could find any more obvious signs of spring....

.... but all we saw was more signs of brown.

(Just ignore this sign ~ Mom always does)

Oh well, I guess I'll just keep lookin'. In the meantime,
I don't need any signs to tell me that it's Friday.
I plan on havin' a ball and I hope you are too!

Top Chef

The older I get, the more I realize the days of my youth were spent in frivolous pursuits. I wandered and explored at every turn of the PUs' backs. My whims led me from room to room, seein' interestin' new sights and sniffin' rare smells that I had never encountered in the stable where I first lived. Some might argue that it is good to leave no stone unturned, that traversin' one's domain at a young age actually helps to find what will satisfy one's spirit as the years go by. This may be true so I won't belittle the point, but sumtimes I now wonder if I had concentrated more on the kitchen area maybe my culinary skills would have been that of a top chef.

Not to say that my interests in the other parts of our home have subsided. No, not in the least. It's just that when Mom's in the kitchen I am right by her side, watchin' her every move and ready at a moment's notice to assist. I am entranced as I watch her move from the 'fridge to the counter to the stove and back to the 'fridge time and time again. Foodables movin' to and fro as rivers of drool drop steadily from my jaw and my nose tingles in the wake of their scent.

Nevertheless, I am a quick study and have absorbed much. Choppin', gratin', stirrin', pourin' are tasks of which I have perceived as bein' the greatest of the food preparation skills. To the untrained eye, they may seem menial and common. To me they are the most interestin' simply because the more the foodables move, the more likely they are to be dropped and or spilled. This is where my competent clean-up assistance is a highly regarded talent. Had I been more interested as a pup, would my culinary career be further along? We may never know. But, my zeal and attention to the task at hand (or in this case, paw) was noticed by my mentor who has given me the title, "The Quicker Picker Upper".

Not one to waste an opportunity, I am excited to announce the development of
my own personal line of kitchen products. Here is the first of what I
hope is to be many :

*Comin' soon to a grocery store near you.

Now the weekend is just around the corner,
and I don't know of any quicker picker upper than that!

Bone Appetit!

Brown Friday

I know it's Friday and I should be ecstatic, but I've got a bone to pick. Here's the thing: I'm tired of hearin' about how beautiful the world looks when it's blanketed with the pure white of snow. Spring's arrival then has the flowers popping their pastel petals of pink and purple out of the ground to the delight of many. Summer is a rainbow consistin' of colors rangin' from bright greens to brilliant reds and blues. Autumn is the reigning queen of color when the trees burst into flames of yellow, orange and red. Don't get me wrong, they are all beautiful but there is one color feelin' a little left out. Not part of the clique, so to speak. That's what I want to address with today's post.

I want to celebrate the color of BROWN.
Despite it's bad rap, there's a lot of beautiful things that come in the shade of BROWN:

Soft pretzels come in a golden shade of BROWN.

Turkey feathers are mottled with various shades of BROWN.

Groundhogs, biscuits and bully sticks are some
of my most favorite BROWN things.

Great swimmin' holes are one of the coolest BROWNS around.

BROWNIES are off-limits but their wonderful smell still tickles my snooter.

My signature BROWN pawtograph.

You can't see him but this is me pointing to a BROWN rabbit.

Even Mom is accessorizin' with BROWN these days.

I'm feelin' a whole lot better now that I've shown you
just what BROWN can do for you.

But as much as I love BROWN, I'm really hopin'
your weekend delivers something very colorful!!!
