Savin' the Big Bucks

Black Friday. Of course everybody who breathes pretty much knows that this is the day that 2 leggers - particularly female 2 leggers - long for. They feel it is their duty to save the economy by spending as much as possible - but at an amazin' sale price. After a long day of slavin' away in the kitchen on Thanksgivin', they feel they've earned the right to get up at an insane hour just so they can save the big bucks.

And to this I say "Pfffffftttttttttt!". To each his own but no way am I leavin' the comforts of my big ol' snuggly bed to elbow my way through a frenzied crowd. I can live without gettin' "The Lowest Prices Ever!!!" on everything from TV's to electric toothbrushes. Besides, I've got my own way of savin' big bucks and the next few days I'm gonna need all the sleep I can get if I'm goin' to make it happen.

Ya see, this comin' Monday is the first day of rifle season in Pennsylvania and my male PU is gearin' up for it as usual. This little video clip shows exactly what he'd like to be seein' at first light.

Ya gotta admit, he's one handsome dude with quite an impressive rack. Seems to me he grew those horns so he ought to have the privilege of stayin' alive and flauntin' them. Wouldn't a picture of him hangin' on the wall be much nicer than just his head? That's why I've taken it upon myself to warn the deer community of the impending stampede of gun-totin' 2 leggers comin' to visit them Monday.

Friday = Payday.
I hope you find you have some big bucks
of your own now to scatter.

All Washed Up

I'm baaaa-aaaack!
Older for sure. Washed up? Let's be reasonable here.
I AM a 3 yr. old Chocolate lab, after all.

The only thing that coulda made last week's birthday any better woulda been for a couple of groundhogs to show up at my party. None did but that's OK 'cuz I was a very busy dawg. Now, don't get me wrong, I woulda been a gracious host and taken the time to mingle with 'em but there will be time enough for that another day.

Right now we want to thank everybody who played along and tried to find answers to the contest questions. Congratulations go to the OP Pack for bein' the first to get them all right. The answers were:
Daisy and Ben were my biological Mom and Dad's name.
Mom went for an extended swim in Lake Marberg.
Number of groundhog platters served by me to date have been 63.

GREAT job OP Pack! They requested that their donation go to The Last Resort Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in New Jersey. I am so glad we were able to help out this hard-workin' safe haven for animals in need.

Of course my day at the Canine Spa ROCKED in a big way. Here's two short videos just to give you an idea why I was a very mellow fellow the days followin' my birthday bash.

I'm tellin' ya-it felt MAH-VELOUS! Most of the time me and Mom had the place to ourselves which was pretty cool. A twelve year old Golden Retriever did show up but Mom thought it best that I take a break from swimmin' so we took a walk outside. That gave the senior Golden Girl a chance to swim by herself and she wouldn't have to endure my playful, yet hard advances. By the time the shampoo came out I had no nuthin' left in me to fight the shower hose.
This is what I looked like the next two days or so. Clean, but tired.

I also had another sweet surprise happen recently. Oz Girl from Kansas had a contest goin' on that you could win your choice of one of her calendars. She lives in a beautiful part of our country and takes some magnificent pictures. Her store on Zazzle is called Wheatgrass Designs and it features calendars, greetin' cards, mouse pads etc. She also lives with a Chocolate dawg named Ringo and he has a calendar of just pictures of him each month. All that to say, I WON and Oz Girl gave me my calendar choice. I'm sure they are all spectacular but I really wanted to be seein' Ringo's face all year long so that's the one I chose. Check out her blog, you may be wantin' one of her calendars for your very own.

Now it's back to my job of supervisin' Mom as she works around the house. Believe me, it's a tough job and not as easy as it looks.

You may think I'm bein' too rough on her but it's really all her fault. She's not always an easy 2 legger to please either, ya know. Just take for instance, the laundry. A little while back I thought I'd try and help out with it. I jumped in and started takin' it downstairs and sortin' it for her. I just assumed because she had an easy access hamper that she was in agreement with my efforts. (If you decide to biggify this picture you will see a Chocolate stain on the fabric where my neck rubbed as I observed the dirty clothes level each day. I finally realized that access was much easier from the side so it also shows some Chocolate residue plus a minor tear in the fabric. Ooops-my bad.)

So what if I did decide to do this at 3:00 in the morning? Mom thinks that I was whinin' because I wanted her to chase me. Does she not realize I can't open the washer lid by myself? The pains that I was goin' to just to help went unappreciated to say the least. But I did not give up. Night after night I tried to do my share. A surprise awaited me as I strolled into the bathroom one afternoon to see just how long my laundry shift would be that night.

That's when I realized the PU's were serious about closin' down my late night laundry service.

My efforts of helpin' 'round the house have been hampered once again.
I guess I'll just forget about workin' and learn to enjoy bein' a kept dog.

A short week is in store and the grocery list
is growin' for our Thanksgivin' feast.
I'm thankful simply for the fact that I am blessed enough to say that.

Happy Thanksgivin'!!!

Healthy Appetite

Have you heard the news?

Mom's PC is sick. We're not sure but it either has worms or the swine flu virus.
Either way she will be busy nursin' it back to health this weekend.
If it's not better by Monday it will have to go to the doctor.
Fortunately she has one where she works.

So far no one else in the pack is showin' any symptoms,
and it certainly hasn't affected my appetite.

The weekend entree you ordered will be served very soon.
I hope it's delicious!

Lost Weekend

Weekend? Here Weekend. Weekend was just here. Where did it go? Weekend - COME! I knew I shoulda kept it on it's leash. Now it's gone forever. Sigh.....and it was the best Weekend ever.

I went to a Howl-a-Ween party this Saturday thrown by the Keystone Dock Dogs and it was all about us dawgs and havin' dawg fun.
I made a pile of new 4 legger friends and 2 legger friends too! These folks sure did know how to entertain a pile of canines. We dock dived, swam, romped, played Frisbee. Then they got out this thingy that launched a dummy way far out into the field. I offered Mom up for one of the dummy launches but they did not go for it. So anyway, there were about 10-11 of us that the 2 leggers held to the startin' line and when that loud bang went off our 2 leggers released us and we ran like the wind. I had no idea why I was runnin' but these dawgs had all done this before and it seemed like a great thing to do so run along I did. Over and over and over. Whew! It was amazin' fun!

These 2 leggers are not dumb as I came to find out. They had a master plan. After all this runnin' and swimmin' it was time for the costume part of the party. Honestly, I had no fight left in me and if Mom wanted to make a fool out of me, I could care less.  I'm sure the other dawgs felt the same way. You will see that I took advantage of the situation and advertised my Groundhog patrol unit.

I would go into more detail but I am tired. REALLY tired. I'm just gonna toss you some pictures and let you see the fun for yourselves.

Rocky (he lives with 5 labs and thinks he is one too)

Nestle was havin' a bad hair day but Mercy was
lookin' groovy in her disco pants

There was lotsa hamburgers and hot dogs so we
needed jumbo sized Mustard and Ketchup

You never know when someone will need my professional assistance.
You can see I have #30 in my pocket.

Well, I'm afraid Weekend is gone forever. If by chance you see Weekend wanderin' along somewhere would you mind grabbin' it and bringin' it back to me? I really miss my Weekend.
