Meet my new friend Artie!

Hi Folks! I would like to introduce you to my new friend Artie Choke. He arrived on Christmas morning and I like him so much, I think Mom and Dad are going to let him stay. He was born on Planet Dog and he has such minty fresh breath! Kinda weird but I've heard everybody that comes from Planet Dog has minty breath. Must be the atmosphere there.
I hope your pack had a wonderful Christmas! I can't complain. Santa Paws brought me some really nice toys but not all that I asked for. I didn't get a brother or a swimming pool but as you can see I got some cool stuff. My friend Bosley sent me this sharp looking collar. Mom had me take it off so it would show up better in the picture. But you should see me in it, I am one sharp dog! Here are a few pictures of me and my other new toys. From left to right is Dumbell, Air Dog Football, RedBone and of course, Artie. Mom has been letting me play football inside the house until my old one completely falls to pieces (which is close) and then it will get thrown away and this one will go outside. Something Mom doesn't like about me bringing my outdoor toys inside. Whatever! Oh, I almost forgot about my People Crackers that Bosley sent me too. They are delicious and shaped just like what the package reads, people! I, of course don't take much time to look at 'em but they sure do taste good. Mom couldn't get a picture with them 'cause I don't sit still when she puts them in front of me. So - tomorrow is the start of a new year. Hmmmm, I wonder what awaits us all? Wishing your pack a Happy, Treat-filled New Year! And remember not all treats are bought with money. Just being a good friend, a good belly rub, a back scratch, just listening to your packmates are just some of the good things money can't buy and there are many, many more! See how many you can think of! Ches

Chester's First Gig at the Nursing Home

Hey Gang! Get a load of me at the nursing home! Mom has a friend who lives at the home and she's been wanting to take me there. First she called and checked to make sure that a four legged fella of my kind could visit and they said they'd love to have me as long as Mom could produce the paperwork saying I had all my shots. Like I would bite anybody! (I did slobber on a few so I guess vaccinations could be a reasonable request.) The pictures are of Mom, her friend Phyllis and yours truly. Mom and her used to work together at the print shop. (They were strippers. Yeah, I laughed too until I found out that a stripper in the printing world is a whole different ballgame.) I was the hit of the show, if I do say so myself. Everybody had to stop and chat while I was there. I particularly liked one fella and he needed extra kisses 'cause Phyllis said his wife died a couple months ago and well, he just adored me. Anywhooooo, she's off work this week and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to post any pictures 'cause uh, ya see, it's kinda embarassing but oh geeesh, I'm just gonna come out and tell you. We still have dial-up! Can you believe it? It's like living in the stone ages! But if you're reading this post, my uploads musta worked. Here I am, working my wiggly butt off entertaining the folks at the home and I can't have hi speed internet? What's a dog to do? Oh well, I really shouldn't complain 'cause in my next post I'm gonna show off all the cool toys I got for Christmas. So I better go apologize to Mom for the dial up thing. (I think she's working on getting hi-speed and maybe, just maybe a MAC instead of this crappy PC! Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout! I'll be posting again soon 'cause she's going shopping tomorrow with Grammy and Pappy and I'll have more time then. Woofs and slobbers! Chester

Do you see what I see?

I think I see Santa Paws and his sleigh and it's loaded with loads and loads of treats for good little boys and girls just like me! Merry Christmas to all my furry friends and to their Moms and Dads, brothers and sisters, furry and not. Mom would like me to remind everyone that amongst all the Christmas celebrations that we should all remember the reason we celebrate this time of year is because God gave us the greatest gift of all, His Son who came to earth as a baby to grow up to save all mankind for their sin. Have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year!

My Christmas List to Santa Paws

Dear Santa Paws,
I've been a really, really good boy this year and for Christmas I really need a new football. As you can see on the video this one's getting kinda ruff. I don't know how it happens, it just happens. And then I'd like some treats, stuffed toys (lots of 'em because they don't last long), treats, a swimming pool, a brother, treats, a hammock, treats, more sqeaky toys, treats. I guess that's all I can think of so hopefully I will see that under my tree Christmas morning, well all except the swimming pool. I can wait till summer for that. So what is everybody else asking for this Christmas?

Patiently waiting

This is me being a well-mannered, patient dog in the kitchen while Mom cooks. She likes me here 'cause she knows I'm not roaming the house looking for trouble. She thinks I want to be near her and that I'm "settling down". Doesn't she realize just how many bits and bites of food fall to the floor when she's cooking?

It's a Milk Bone Christmas!!

It's a MilkBone Christmas!
Can you see my tree Gramma bought? Can you see it, huh? huh? huh? She says she bought it for her GrandDog (aka: ME!) It's the best tree ever! BUT why in the world won't Mom let me near it? You can see she put it on top of a very tall cupboard and try as I might, I can't get to it. I've stood on top of the nearby stand and stretched my neck and inhaled for all I am worth but I can't get to it. I want to taste it and I want to taste it NOW! Mom says it's for Decoration. I do not understand. It's only me, her and Dad and nobody else that lives here so who is "Decoration" and why does he get MY tree from Gramma? Humans! Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em! Anyway, THANKS GRAMMA (and PAPPY too!)

The End of Deer Hunting Season

Yippeee! As of tomorrow evening the end of the 2008 deer season ends in Pennsylvania. You might be wondering why this excites me. You see, as of the Monday following Thanksgiving, I have been banned from the fields surrounding my domain. Mom and or Dad take me for runs almost every night in those fields and I get to stretch my legs and smell and dig and of course, hunt groundhogs. There haven't been too many live ones around lately, something about hibernating for winter, but there are still all the sun-dried pelts from last summers kills I made. Now, mind ya, I don't ever eat a fresh kill but there is something that satisifies my taste buds with a sun-dried groundhog skin! (Don't knock it till you've tried it). But anyway back to my story. Bein's how I have such a beautiful brown complexion, Mom and Dad are afraid that some trigger happy hunter may mistake me for a deer and- well, let's just say it wouldn't be good for ol' Ches. So once the sun goes down on Saturday I'm ready to take my territory back. Probably still have to go on a leash some 'cause Mom says I'm getting better on a leash but still need the practice. I'll get Mom to take some pictures once we hit the fields so you can see me in action.
ps. Dad wanted me to tell you he is happy to report bagging a 6 point deer on the first day this year. Man, did he ever smell good that night. I couldn't bury my nose deep enough into his hunting pants!!

Since I have alot of time on my paws throughout the day whilst Mom and Dad are working, I had Mom set me up a computer in my kennel and thought I'd check out this blogging she talks about. So bear with me 'cause I am still figurin' it all out. This little video clip is kinda old and some of you may have already seen it but I thought I'd see if I could add a video to my page. It's a video Mom took of me helping her swish off the dirt on the walls. (Now that I'm getting more mature I thought I'd help Mom around the house a little more.) Here goes

Let me introduce myself

My name is Chester and I am my Mom and Dad's pride and joy. Seein's how they chose not to do the human reproductive thing, I get to be a spoiled fur child. It's rough on a dog, but I'll make the sacrifice. Mom really wants to add another fur-child but for now, it's all about me!! I did have a fur-sister but she passed away in September. She only weighed about 3 lbs. or so and had her own apartment in the living room. Her name was Miss Piggy. I was fond of her but Mom and Dad saw that I never got too close except when I was sleepy and curled up next to Mom with Miss Piggy in her lap. I'm usually pretty low-key at that time of the evening and was done chasin' critters for the day so Mom felt it was safe. Miss Piggy quietly passed away in her sleep one day while Mom and Dad was at work. She had a good long life for one of those guinea pig critters. Now, back to me. I have attended Puppy Kindergarten, Obedience 1 classes and have been recently awarded the Canine Good Citizen certificate. But the accomplishment I am the fondest and most proud of is my Groundhog Kill tally. My first adult spring I helped 33-yes, you read right-33 groundhogs meet their end. Ain't nothin' better than stalking and then giving a groundhog a good shake.
I wasn't quite sure where to start with this blog thing but hopefully I have teased you enough to come back and check out more about me. I am gonna try and keep it fresh and exciting enough to keep you interested. Until then, woofs and slobbers! Chester
